Thermal imaging & electrical preventive maintenance

A useful survey is done on energized, accessible equipment carrying meaningful load — panels, transformers, disconnects, switchgear, breakers, feeders and major terminations, wherever accessible. Abnormal heat points at loose connections, overloaded conductors, load imbalance or failing components; the pattern narrows the cause, and follow-up testing confirms it.

The camera sees surface temperature on what it can reach — it does not see through closed metal covers, and an anomaly is not a diagnosis. A hot termination might be a loose lug or a failing breaker; the meter work and inspection say which. When a finding needs correction, it moves into panel, breaker or transformer work scheduled around your operations.

Results come back organized for a facility team to act on: labeled thermal and visible-light images, equipment identification, measured conditions at the time of survey, and findings prioritized by urgency with repair recommendations attached. The distinction between repair now, schedule the repair, and monitor is made explicit.

The documentation doubles as a baseline, so next year's survey is judged against this one instead of against nothing.

The maintenance visit is planned, de-energized work: visual assessment, cleaning per manufacturer requirements, termination and lug inspection, torque verification, grounding and bonding checks, and ventilation and clearance verification. Energized readings taken around the shutdown give the inspection context, and labeling and panel schedules get updated while equipment is open.
