Benjamin Moore — Owner & Texas Master Electrician
I moved from Southern California to Dallas at 18, looking for a fresh start. I didn’t have a clear direction or a career plan. I was on my own, working retail and trying to find a way to support myself.
My first construction job was pushing a broom for a residential remodeler, making about seven dollars an hour. From there, I became a carpenter’s helper. Somewhere between cleaning up jobsites, working through punch lists, and learning how buildings come together, I realized I had found something I genuinely loved.
Construction started as a way to pay the bills. It became something I wanted to build my life around.
When I chose electrical work, I committed myself to learning the trade. I got my apprentice license, found work, and took electrical-technology classes at night at North Lake College. I wanted to understand not just how to do the work, but why it worked.
Over time, I worked my way through field positions and into project estimating and project management. I became a Texas Master Electrician. Along the way, I learned about leading work, coordinating projects, running a business, and the responsibility that comes with having people count on you.
The electrical industry gave me a better life than I ever thought was possible. I don’t take that lightly.
Why I started Flip the Switch Electric
I wanted to build a company I could be proud of—not just for the work it completed, but for how it treated people.
My belief is simple: my responsibility as an owner is to take care of the people doing the work. Their responsibility is to bring that same care to our customers.
As I build Flip the Switch Electric, that is the culture I want to create. A place where people can learn, become excellent at their craft, earn a good living, and build a future. Where success can mean buying a home, supporting a family, or having opportunities they once thought were out of reach.
I want this industry to do for others what it did for me.

My background includes both hands-on electrical work and the planning and coordination behind commercial projects. I understand that the installation is only part of the job. Understanding the scope, communicating clearly, coordinating with others, and following through matter too.
