About

An owner-led commercial electrical contractor in Richardson

Flip the Switch Electric is a commercial electrical contractor based in Richardson, serving businesses, property teams, general contractors and specialty trades across North Dallas — with the owner directly involved in the work.

Benjamin Moore is the Owner and Texas Master Electrician behind Flip the Switch Electric. He's worked in construction since 2012 and in the electrical trade since 2014 — he earned his Texas Master Electrician license in 2020 and established the company as an electrical contractor in 2022, after more than 1,500 service calls in the field.

That service background still shapes how the company runs. Most of our work comes from repeat customers and referrals — people who called once, then sent us to their property managers, their facility teams and their general contractors. More than 200 five-star Google reviews later, that's still how the phone rings.

Built on service work

Growing out of service work matters. Troubleshooting teaches you to trace a fault to its root cause instead of resetting a breaker and leaving, to read an occupied building before opening a wall, and to plan a shutdown around the people still working inside. Those habits carry directly into the commercial project work we do now.

It shows up in tenant finish-outs and remodels where existing conditions are the real risk, in lighting work where the fault is often underground rather than at the fixture, in equipment installations where voltage, phase and feeder sizing have to match the cut sheet, and in new construction where rough-in, trim and inspections have to stay ahead of the schedule.

Commercial capability, honestly staffed

Our commercial experience runs from daily service and repair through completed six-figure commercial electrical projects — multi-tenant shell and site electrical, service equipment and distribution, lighting, and equipment power. You can see real examples, with contract values, on our Our Work page.

Flip the Switch Electric is currently owner-led. For projects requiring additional field manpower, staffing is planned to the approved scope and schedule through established Dallas IEC and contractor relationships. Benjamin remains directly involved in estimating, coordination and quality.

In practice, that means you scope the job with the person accountable for it. Field conditions get verified before scope is locked in, and the decisions that affect cost, safety and schedule stay with someone who knows the job — from the first walkthrough through closeout.

How we approach the work

Verify existing conditions

We trace circuits, confirm capacity, and check what's actually there before recommending scope — instead of pricing from assumptions that fall apart once the ceiling is open.

Practical, code-compliant solutions

Work installed to code, built to last, and matched to how the building is actually used. No oversized scope and no shortcuts that create the next problem.

Clear communication

You talk to someone who knows the job. Scope, sequencing, shutdowns, and trade coordination are planned up front and communicated as the work moves.

Clean closeout

Labeled panels, tested circuits, clean work areas, and documentation you can hand to a facility team or the next contractor on the job.
